DOUBLE BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION ! It's not often that a company can celebrate two birthdays in one year - but LalPac did just that in 2006 Posted: 11:16, 22nd March, 2007 It's not often that a company can celebrate two birthdays in one year - but LalPac did just that in 2006. The first software package designed specifically to help Local Authorities licensing staff manage and administer their responsibilities came of age in 2006. 21 years before, in 1985, the licensing officer at Bolton, Eddie Gorman, produced the software package which was to revolutionise how he did his job in keeping track of Taxis and Private Hire cars - the baby's name; Local Authority Licensing PACkage - LalPac in short. The year 2001 saw Bolton Council sell the package to the private sector and LalPac Limited was formed. The new Licensing Act provided the impetus to grow the company and they now have over a third of the Local Authorities in England and Wales taking advantage of this powerful package, including it's home Council, Bolton. Take up has spread from most of the Greater Manchester and Lancashire Councils to all corners of England and Wales, from Penzance to Berwick upon Tweed, with turnover increasing tenfold in the last five years and staff numbers from 3 to 18. Eddie works from his base in Bolton in his dual role of Managing Director and Marketing Director, whilst the Technical and Administrative functions are based in the south in Chippenham, headed by the Eddie's business partner and Technical Director, Peter Colson. What of the future? - 2007 sees the new Gambling laws come into force and LalPac are well placed and prepared to work with existing and new customers to help take over this new form of licensing. |
